Afro Roots World Music Festival 19

The 19th edition of the Afro Roots Fest featured Salif Keita, who is known as the “Golden Voice of Africa”, and local Cuban folklore artists Cortadito on Friday April 7, 2017. Click here to view a set of photos from that evening’s performance.

This was followed up by Vieux Farka Toure (AKA the “Jimi Hendrix of the Sahara”), plus support acts Sinkane (Sudanese jazz / funk / rock), and Symbi Roots, the all-female Haitian rara band Saturday, April 22.

Both events were hosted at the North Beach Bandshell (7275 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach FL 33141), with the second concert held in collaboration with the Rhythm Foundation on Day Two of their 2017 TransAtlantic Festival.
